Emmett Young and Jake Zweier collected two assists apiece as second-seeded Strath Haven topped seventh-seeded Upper Moreland in the quarterfinal round of the District 1 Class 3A boys soccer tournament.

This sends the Panthers into next Monday’s semifinals against sixth-seeded Upper Perkiomen, which upset third-seeded Pottsgrove on penalty kicks. After battling to a 0-0 double overtime draw the Indians won the penalty kick shootout, 4-3, to advance.

Nate Perrins scored Strath Haven’s first goal of the game off a feed from Young. Zweier set up the next two goals. Zweier sent a perfect cross to Peter Boerth following a long punt from goalkeeper Noah Atsaves to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

After the Golden Bears scored on a free kick following a handball to cut the deficit to 3-1, Zweier headed a pass to Gavin Birch to give Strath Haven some breathing room. Nick Palermo put home a pass from Young to close out the scoring for the Panthers.
